FPS games

So I just recently started playing First Person Shooter (FPS) games and a friend of mine suggested I try the Call of Duty games. I have always had a console system (Nintendo, Sega Genesis, Playstation, PS2) but I have never really played games on the computer. I decided to try it out since I am a frequent reader of Maximum PC magazine (more for the how-to’s and the tips & tricks related to XP, Vista and general computing) and they always rave about how much better computer gaming is than console game.

So I got Call of Duty 2 (I know it is old, but I am cheap) and started playing it. At first it was difficult to figure out all the different keystrokes and mouse clicks and then getting all of those keystrokes and mouse clicks to work together, but it seemed that I picked up on it relatively quickly. Well, the next thing I know I am cruising through COD2 (on Easy level, I will admit) and I finish the game. Well since then, I have bought Call of Duty 4 and finished on Easy level. So I was intrigued on why there wasn’t a Call of Duty 3 for the PC so I started to do a little research. My friend informed me that COD3 was produced by a different company and it was only made available for console systems. Now since I am still living in the 90’s and have obtained an HDTV yet, I have not purchased a PS3 or XBOX 360 either. I figured it wouldn’t make much sense to get one of those systems without the capability of being able to use it the way it was meant to be used. So I am still playing my PS2 on my conventional tube TV.

Well, I found COD3 on eBay and decided to purchase it for a good price. Well, I finally got around to trying it out last night and let me tell you something. Once you get used to playing FPS on the computer, going back to the console and using a controller is not very easy. I was so clumsy and walking sideways and looking up when I should of looked down and having to inch my cross hairs back and forth and then shoot my enemies. I am just glad no one was there to witness it because I would have been really embarrassed. But then I thought back to the first time I played COD2 on the computer and sort of remember having the same experience there and I seemed to pick it up rather quickly. So I am going to give COD3 on the PS2 another chance.

Well, I just thought I would ramble about something for a bit today. If anyone has any suggestions for FPS games that are really good, let me know, it seems that I am hooked on them now.

If anyone who has Vista is looking for a good Disk Defragment tool, Auslogics has a highly recommended tool here. It also works with XP, 2000 and 2003. Enjoy!

My name is Jason and this is where I will post information related to computer items or any other electronic devices that I seem fit to talk about. So please check back often to see what I have to say. And also, bear with me, I am very new at this, so it may take a while for me to get the hang on it. See you all soon!
